Box Room
Plastic, 20 x 20 x 20 cm, 2017
The carefully balanced sculptural assemblage is playfully precarious on the one hand and on the other, seems to court disaster. As such it could portend that something bad is about to happen. Or is it the consequence of a catastrophic event that has already taken place?
The space described by the brightly coloured dolls house furniture equates to an 8 ft square ‘box room’ at full scale. The piece invites a variety of possible readings from our relationship with storage and living space to the pressures and vulnerabilities of social housing.
Box Room was selected for the exhibition 20:20 at PS Mirabel, Manchester.
