Yes, it is about model making, but look a little closer and it is about so much more. There is a very topical undercurrent of COVID 19, though thankfully this is not overt or the primary thrust of the exhibition, but far more subtle than that. Admittedly there is Robin Broadley’s Coronavirus globe, however that and the motivation behind the prevalence of cardboard is where the direct references end. The cardboard coronavirus globe sits centrally in the three storey building at the base of the staircase which spirals its way to the top. Suggesting an all pervasive power that radiates out through the reaches of the galleries, encased in a plethora of cardboard packaging materials.
